My work responds to moments experienced, moments witnessed, things felt and things seen.

My practice is about gathering the memories of such events and feelings and remodelling them to reveal new stories and ask new questions. I impulsively collect characters, objects, scenes and places from my memory, my imagination and from glimpses of what I see happening around me.

These images allow me to reassemble and reconstruct these fragments, reinventing them through a playful process of painting and drawing. Taking fragile moments and giving them humour, love and immortality.

I am particularly drawn to the extraordinariness of the things that can happen in everyday life and when I am piecing together these events, as I am drawing them, I feel as though I am translating them, discovering their wit and sorrow with equal empathy.

My work questions, ‘what is real; mind or body, the past or the present?’

A process of collecting, observing, experiencing and remembering then making a mark, adding something, changing something and adding some more.

My research examines and explores those aspects of the human condition that trigger our emotional response and in particular how our perception of life is altered through the re-telling and memory of extraordinary events.
I work with different media including drawing, painting, sculpture and installation.
