The Apocryphal Archive forms the ongoing subtext for my work and is an attempt, borne out of the futility of objective arrangement, to reconcile myself with fantastical and terrible acts in my own East German genealogy. A corroborative, accrued collection of personal, biased, doubtlessly mythologized, and truthful information, which jostles with some generalizations in accepted historical discourse. In other instances reaffirms an inexorable sense of guilt with concern to apathy, appeasement, and ultimately denial. Tin drum’s still hammer into the present, we must detect the origin of their rhythms.
